Description

Sorce Architecture provided exterior rehabilitation as well as interior landlord improvements to the Stein & Company building in Chicago, built in 1921.

Challenges:

Sorce Architecture was contracted by Stein & Co. to rehabilitate their existing four story, 118,000 sq. ft., warehouse with an attached four story parking garage. The existing masonry and precast concrete structure was in very poor condition.

Sorce Architecture provided a full site assessment and survey. We identified items throughout the building that needed to removed, replaced, and patched. The final scope of work involved replacing all of the existing stairs and elevators, roof and waterproofing replacement throughout the building and parking garage, masonry cleaning, and complete window/storefront replacement.

We also provided new escalators, a new upgraded electrical service, full replacement of the domestic water service and sanitary lines, and a new HVAC system including a new boiler and boiler distribution.
